Recipe: Muhalbiya al-ruz (milky rice pudding)

Uzbek Beet Salad
Malzeme listesi
4 adet orta boy kırmızı pancar
2 diş sarmısak
1 adet kesmeşeker
3 yemek kaşığı sirke (elma sirkesi kullanılabilir)
1 adet büyük boy beyaz soğan
Yarım su bardağı konserve bezelye
1 su bardağı konserve kuru fasulye
6 yemek kaşığı sızma zeytinyağı
1 adet limonun suyu
2 çay kaşığı tuz
1 çay kaşığı karabiber
Türk kahvesi fincanıyla 1 fincan ılık su Yapılışı
1- Beyaz soğan soyulup ortadan ikiye bölünür. İncecik yarımaylar halinde doğranıp, derin bir kaba aktarılır. Üzerine tuz ve karabiber serpiştirilip, zeytinyağının 3 yemek kaşığı kadarı gezdirilir. Hafifçe yoğrulan soğan bir kenarda bekletilir.
2- Pancarlar soyulup bol suyla yıkandıktan sonra dörde bölünerek orta boy bir tencereye aktarılır.
3- Üzerine soyulmuş bütün sarmısaklar, sirke, kesmeşeker ve 6-7 su bardağı su ilave edilip, pancarlar yumuşayıncaya kadar en az 30 dakika pişirilir. Suyu süzülüp, soğuması için beklenir.
4- Diğer taraftan, soğuyan pancarlar tavla zarı formunda küp küp doğranıp derin bir kaba aktarılır. Tazesi bulunmazsa kırmızı pancar turşusu da kullanılabilir.
5- Konserve bezelye ve konserve fasulyenin suyu süzülüp pancarla karıştırılır.
6- Kalan zeytinyağı ve ılık su karıştırılıp, salatanın üzerine aktarılır. Soğanlar ilave edilip, malzemeler iyice harmanlanır. Bekletmeden servise sunulur.
Aklınızda bulunsun: İstenirse bu salataya yarım su bardağı iri çekilmiş ceviz içi eklenebilir ya da salatanın üzerine sarmısaklı yoğurt gezdirilebilir.

Turkish Flower Girl
This girl came to where I was having tea in Demirkapi Turkiye.
She had picked wild flowers to sale for tourists.
I sat and watched her, and realized the coins she would get for her flowers, were given to her mom.
So as soon as she was done, I came over and gave her american candies, chocolates, gum and small toys.
Now she got to keep her goodies.
